Rangers go into the match against fierce Scottish rivals Dundee United with the unexpected news that Alfredo Morelos is still very much an Ibrox player.

Many believed the firebrand striker wouldn’t survive the international break with interest from Lille coming off the back of the player being dropped from the Ibrox first XI.

But after reappearing on the bench against Hamilton,  training photos show a smiling Morelos preparing for the visit of the Arabs.

The Colombian striker was pictured looking leaner and in better good spirits as the Ibrox side prepared for the Scottish Premiership fixture.

Despite Steven Gerrard admitting the player has had his “head turned” by the interest if Morelos is serious about earning a move away the best way to do it is on the pitch.

Rangers boss Gerrard deserves credit for slapping the striker’s ego down and dropping him for the last two matches, which Rangers have won comfortably anyway.

With Kemar Roofe said to be approaching full match fitness Rangers also have another option against Dundee United, even if Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe remain injured [RangersTV].

Morelos returned to the fold against Hamilton even if he never got off the bench and this week you imagine that Steven Gerrard will go with Roofe as his main man up top.

But as the match wears on, Morelos’ improved attitude in training means we may well see the striker back at Ibrox after all.

Who’d have thought that two weeks ago?
