Could Rangers be alerted to availability of Chelsea's Billy Gilmour?

Chelsea is a club synonymous with loaning out young talent and the latest report suggests Scottish footballing wonderkid Billy Gilmour is about to get the same treatment.
The highly-rated 18-year-old midfielder was, of course, an Academy prospect at Rangers.
And after football.london claimed the talented youngster was set to move on loan this campaign, might Rangers be interested?

Chelsea beat players from across Europe to secure the player’s signature as a 15-year-old, for around £500k in 2017.
Whilst there’s always been talk about a potential loan return to Ibrox, this might’ve just come at the wrong time for Billy and Rangers.
Rangers have an incredibly dense and competitive midfield and firstly, there’s absolutely no guarantee Billy would play. The point of a loan is so that he does.
Secondly, the likes of new signing Joe Aribo are Rangers own players. After the debacle surrounding Joe Worrall last year, Rangers fans would rather we developed our own players.
And finally, if anything Rangers need to trim the fat in the midfield, rather than add to it.

At the time of writing Rangers have upwards of 10 midfielders in the first-team squad, even if the likes of Jordan Rossiter [Scottish Sun], Jason Holt [
Scottish Sun] and Graham Dorrans [Scottish Sun] look set to be moved on.
With all this in mind, might Rangers be interested in taking Billy Gilmour on loan?
It looks very unlikely this season.
