Confusion as BBC Scotland claim Rangers star out of Galatasaray tie

Confusion reins amongst the Rangers support this morning as BBC Scotland claim that Gers midfielder Glen Kamara is injured for the match with Galatasaray.

The national broadcaster ran a preview of the match which claims that Kamara is out of the game but there has been nothing official about this from Rangers.

But before Rangers fans begin to panic about the first-team Finnish international, it appears to have been a misinterpretation of Steven Gerrard’s press conference.

The BBC Scotland article claims that the “game comes too soon for fellow midfielders Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara”.

Kamara has obviously started the last three Rangers matches amid injury problems in the middle of the park and there was no official mention of Kamara in the press conference.

However, the absence of Kemar Roofe from BBC Scotland’s story suggests that they’ve misinterpreted Steven Gerrard’s comments regarding injuries going into the match.

“Joe Aribo and Kemar [Roofe] won’t be with us tomorrow, but they are progressing well and moving along really nicely,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“Ryan Jack was back in full training yesterday and we managed that session, but he will train fully this morning as he has had no reaction.

“Brandon Barker is the same, he trained yesterday for the first time as well with no reaction.

“Cedric Itten had a bit of an issue yesterday in training with his knee that we are going to check out today, but he is a major doubt for tomorrow.”

Given Steven Gerrard only said Kemar, it could’ve easily been misinterpreted by the broadcaster and there’s been no official suggestion that Kamara is set to miss the tie.

Rangers have also been boosted by the news that two first-team stars are back in the squad for the game after injury lay-offs.
