Rangers are set for a six-figure cash payment boost from FIFA for their role in releasing and developing players for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

According to official data released by football’s governing body, Rangers are one of 440 clubs across all six confederations who will receive a slice of the $209m (£160m) shared out by FIFA.

In total, Rangers will receive around $414k (£316k) in a World Cup payment with the Ibrox side one of seven teams in Scotland who are set to benefit.

Around $2.15m (£1.65m) is set to be shared out to Celtic, Hearts, Dundee United, Hibernian, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Rangers for their role in providing players for the tournament.

Each player who plays at the tournament will bank the clubs who released them for duty a cool $10,950 (£8350) per day they were at the competition.

This is worked out by the $209m Club Benefits Programme Fund cash pot being divided by the total accumulative days spent by individual players at the tournament (approx 19080).

However, the situation isn’t quite as simple as each club being recompensed for releasing their own player with clubs entitled to a share of the player’s reward fee if they have played at the club at any point from the qualification stage.

This means that whilst Borna Barisic banked Rangers the bulk of the cash given his presence with third-place Croatia, who lasted up until the final two days of the competition, there is some money being recouped from elsewhere.

This includes from the likes of Aaron Ramsey for example, who spent time with Rangers on loan during the qualification period and who played for Wales at the tournament.

Whilst we’re not going to work out the finite details of who raised what here, Rangers will feel the benefit of the £316k FIFA cash payment with the club in the midst of a busy transfer window.
