After Dave King and the Three Bears earned a controlling interest in Rangers, Club 1872 has been speaking out on how it affects them and their members.
Around £14m in loans given by the current regime was converted into shares of the club. As a result, Club 1872’s stake in the club was diluted.
Rangers’ second largest shareholder described that as an “unavoidable consequence” in a revealing Q&A with the Evening Times.

They also praise Dave King and the Three Bears for their investment, stating that “the shareholding is reflective of the amount of money that individuals or groups have put into Rangers.”
But the group have always maintained that they want a representative of Club 1872, and thus the fans, on the Rangers board.
It’s something that remains high on the list of priorities for Club 1872, but also something they admit has “lots of work to be done”.

“The members voted for it and it is a stated aim of the organisation,” said Club 1872.
“It is about working out the mechanics of how it could actually work and setting the expectations of the supporters in terms of what that role would actually be.
“You would have to have an understanding, and a trust actually, that the person is doing the best they can on behalf of the members to feedback to the club.

“You would want the seat on the board to formalise that process. We haven’t met any resistance from the club and discussions about it are ongoing.”
Club 1872 are a fan-led group which “seeks to give our members a meaningful say in Rangers Football Club by increasing their collective shareholding”.
