Classless Chris Sutton fires parting Michael Beale Rangers shot

When Michael Beale was appointed as Rangers manager, there were mixed feelings within the support.

Some felt that the title winning form of the 55 season could return to Ibrox, however, he was taking over a squad that was not at the same level in terms of fitness and quality.

A positive start saw two trophy opportunities blown with weak Old Firm performances, followed by a disastrous summer transfer window and beginning to this season but Michael Beale doesn’t deserve the stick that Chris Sutton is giving him for his time at Rangers.

Chris Sutton takes needless Rangers dig at Michael Beale

There is obviously no love lost between the pair with a strained relationship that goes back to the early weeks of Beale’s return to Ibrox.

Rather than ignoring the Sky Sports pundit, the then Gers boss responded to criticism via a series of interviews.

What he was hoping to achieve is anyone’s guess.

After being sacked for the second time this season following Sunderland’s decision to relieve him from his duties after just 12 games, Beale really needs to take stock and take a break from the game.

Posting on X, the former Celtic striker couldn’t help but have another dig:

“Sorry to see Mick Beale go… he may go down as Sunderland’s and Rangers worst ever manager and all in the same season…”

The results at Sunderland weren’t great but they weren’t exactly unforgiveable either, although his sacking has been coming.

The issue was his relationship with the fans, who never took to him and would have been less than pleased by Beale saying that his cockney accent was a reason why some people will never take to him as a manager.

He clearly loves Rangers and his failure at Sunderland wouldn’t have been for a lack of effort or desire but Michael Beale really needs to take a step back for a while.

He is also nowhere near Rangers worst manager.

His win ratio was high enough to compete in most seasons but the problem was his inability to win competitive Old Firm derbies and the emphatic Champions League exit to PSV Eindhoven.

Add this to stale and shapeless defeats to Kilmarnock and Aberdeen and his exit was only a matter of time.

Was he worse than Pedo Caixinha or Graeme Murty? Of course he wasn’t, and Sutton knows this, he’s just having a go for the sake of it and to pander to a certain fan base.

Uncalled for and classless, just like claiming an opposition team lay down because his own wasn’t good enough to win the league.
