Chris Sutton, James McFadden and Kris Boyd have been reacting to a Hearts penalty shout in the build-up to Rangers’ second goal at Tynecastle.

Rangers ran out 3-1 winners over Hearts courtesy of a goal from Vaclav Cerny sandwiched between two Jamie McCart own goals.

But prior to Vaclav Cerny getting the break of the ball and slotting past Craig Gordon, Hearts forward James Wilson went down in the box.

Replays showed that Rangers defender Clinton Nsiala did have his hands on James Wilson when the Hearts forward went down in the Scottish Premiership clash.

But there is some dubiety over whether or not the contact from the French centre-back was enough to merit a spot kick.

Chris Sutton never misses the chance to turn the screw when it comes to Rangers but even the ex-Celtic striker dismissed the appeals.

”There has to be sufficient contact for Wilson to hit the deck,” Sutton told Sky Sports.

”I think he tries to buy that one. It’s not a penalty if that’s what you’re asking.”

James McFadden would then say ‘not for me’ when it came to the penalty shout.

With Kris Boyd offering a wry smile, the former Scotland striker said ‘we didn’t need to ask you’.

Hearts & Rangers managers dismiss penalty claim

Hearts manager Neil Critchley also refused to be drawn on the incident come full-time.

The Jambos boss was left ‘scratching his head’ after the game but not because of the potential penalty shout.

Hearts were halted time and again by Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland as the team relieved the pressure on Philippe Clement.

”Maybe I’ve not seen that back yet,” said Critchley.

”We should’ve stopped them from getting to the edge of the box.”

Philippe Clement was asked about the incident and also said he hadn’t see the penalty shout back.

The Rangers manager also pointed to two disallowed goals for the Gers in the game.

”I didn’t see the images back so it’s difficult to say something about that,” said Clement.

”We had also two disallowed goals today on the edge. Two times we hit the net (and it was) slight offside, I think it was a case of centimetres.”
