Football has a funny way of cursing you if you get over-confident in the run-up to big matches, and that’s exactly what happened with Braga against Rangers.
Ahead of the Portuguese club’s last 32 Europa League tie against the Gers, the high-flying Primeira Liga side sent a cheeky tweet aimed towards at Ibrox.
Proclaiming “you’re next” to Rangers after beating Benfica [Braga], it all seems a little a premature after the Ibrox side dumped them out the Europa League 4-2 on aggregate.

Rangers first staged an extraordinary comeback at Ibrox last week before producing a composed, measured display in Portugal to win the tie.
The Ibrox club proved themselves more than worthy winners over the two legs with two goals from Ianis Hagi, one from Joe Aribo and one from Ryan Kent enough over the tie.
It’s not like Rangers didn’t notice the Portuguese side’s over-confident tweet going into the match either.
After Rangers had successfully ditched Portugal’s on-form club, they had a cheeky pop at Braga right back.
Rangers might’ve avoided being “next” in-line to be destroyed by Braga’s fine form, but they are through to the “next” round in the Europa League.
Here’s the best responses from Rangers fans to this stunning display from the Ibrox social media team:
