Rangers have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Karlan Grant after reports emerged Charlton are “confident” of keeping the striker.
TalkSport are reporting the South London club are locked in contract talks with the 21-year-old talent. They are optimistic the player will commit his future to the club.
The Scottish Sun reported that Rangers were interested in Grant yesterday. The report suggests the club are looking at the English forward to be a long-term replacement for Alfredo Morelos.

But it now looks like Rangers will have to look elsewhere as Charlton look to secure Grant’s future.

Karlan Grant has 13 goals for English League One side Charlton already this year.
His goals also have Charlton chasing promotion. The TalkSport report claims Rangers sent a scout to Shrewbury’s ground to see Charlton’s 3-0 win there at the weekend, in which Grant scored.
He has become a key fixture of Manager Lee Bowyer’s side and the Addicks remain eager to retain his services. But could Rangers yet pounce?
The move is especially enticing as Rangers would only have to pay a development fee for the forward. If a club in England were to move for the striker, they would have to pay much higher compensation.
Karlan Grant is also a former England U-19 international and according to the Sun report was the subject of a rejected £500,000 bid from Championship Brentford earlier in the month.
