Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall has been sacked just days after a pair of players from the Vitality Stadium signed for Rangers.
Whilst the signings of Jack Simpson and Nmandi Ofoborh on pre-contract deals had little to do with the sacking the Cherries announced the move this morning.
“AFC Bournemouth have today parted company with manager Jason Tindall,” reads a Bournemouth statement.
“It is a decision which has not been taken lightly, given Jason’s outstanding commitment to the club as a player, assistant manager and manager.
“However, recent performances and results have fallen well below the board’s expectations.
“We feel a change is needed now in order to give the club the best possible chance of achieving the goals that were clearly set out last summer.”
The club would go on thank the manager for his some 22 years of service to the club with Tindall a former player and assistant manager.
However, despite harbouring promotion hopes this season, Bournemouth have lost their last four games on the bounce and now sit eight points off automatic promotion this season.
Tindall took over from ex-Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe six months ago when the club was relegated from the Premier League.
Rangers have secured the signing of Jack Simpson in this window whilst Nmandi Ofoborh has headed out on loan to Wycombe Wanderers.
According to one journalist, there is a scarcely discussed clause in the Simpson deal which allowed the 24-year-old defender move north six months early.
