Legendary Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas has heaped praise on former Rangers youngster Billy Gilmour after his first league start for Chelsea.
The 18-year-old Scottish midfielder is amongst the most highly-rated talents in the game and Fabregas was very impressed by his performance in the 7-1 win at Grimsby.
So much so that the former Chelsea midfielder has been speaking about the youngster and his “personality” on the pitch.
The youngster will be in dreamland just managing to earn a start so soon after making his first Premier League appearance from the bench.
Getting praise from 110 cap Spain midfielder Cesc Fabregas – who is still playing at 32 with Ligue 1 Monaco – must’ve been surreal for the youngster from Ayrshire.
So much so, that Gilmour took to Twitter to thank the former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder for his comments.
Fabregas isn’t the only one who’s been praising Gilmour in the wake of his terrific performance at Stamford Bridge against Grimsby.
Gilmour also impressed arguably the only man who really matters in Frank Lampard, the Chelsea manager.
“From Billy Gilmour it was a fantastic full debut, he ran the game from midfield,” said Lampard, who was capped 106 times by England [Daily Record].
“I thought he was possibly the best player on the pitch.

“He moves the ball at a pace, every pass he hits is punchy and into people’s feet, so I’m delighted for him.
“It was pleasing on a lot of levels.”
