Valencia did a number on Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The La Liga outfit have been goal shy this season, but that didn’t stop them running out comfortable 2-0 winners at Parkhead last night.

It’s a development that could work in Rangers’s favour.
Gerrard’s men were by far the better side when the two met at Ibrox in December, but since then, Celtic have put together a strong run of league form.
Their opposition haven’t really asked them any questions, and they have racked up win after win.
That won’t do for Rangers, who need them to drop points along the way in order to have a shot at the title.

Last night’s defeat effectively renders Celtic’s chances of Europa League progression slim to none.
More importantly, though, it will be a dent to the confidence ahead of a tough run of fixtures.
They face three of the top five in their next four league matches. Kilmarnock, Hearts and Aberdeen.
Sandwiched in amongst those fixtures, are trips to the Mestalla and Easter Road.
By comparison, Rangers’s next three league matches are against St Johnstone, Hamilton and Dundee. On paper, those are much more straightforward assignments.

This could be the block of fixtures where things turn in the Gers favour.
All they can do is look to hit form and take maximum points over the next while.
There may be a window of opportunity, but only if Tavernier and co. can keep standards high.
