Celtic will never live it down if they chicken out of Rangers showdown

Rangers are on the verge of becoming Champions this season as Celtic collapse under the weight of the Ibrox club’s immense form.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, his backroom staff and his team all deserve immense credit for their form this season which sees the club unbeaten and within four points of a first title in a decade.

The club’s 55th crown has been a long-time coming and perhaps the only thing which could make it sweeter is the crowning moment coming at Parkhead.

Rangers can win the title at the home of their arch-rivals should both sides be victorious this weekend but there’s a feeling that Celtic won’t be able to take it that far.

If the Gers can defeat St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday, all eyes will fall on Tannadice this Sunday with anything but a Celtic victory meaning the title will officially go to Govan.

But let’s get one thing straight – they will never live it down if they chicken out of a Parkhead showdown and fail to beat Dundee United.

If this crop of cowardly Parkhead has-beens think losing the crown at Parkhead is bad enough, just think about Rangers waltzing in their as Champions and winding them up.

If the Dundee United match is evenly poised at 1-1 in the final five minutes, can you see this team of cowards genuinely stepping up to win the game?

Celtic have the chance to do two things if it’s taken to Parkhead – they can hand Rangers their first defeat of the season and stop a title party.

But the fear of us ending their period of dominance on their own patch could have them pulling out before this Scottish Premiership spectacle is set up.

Should they do so, they’ll forever be remembered as the Celtic side who bricked it from the challenge of overcoming the Champions Elect Rangers at Parkhead.

Rangers are edging ever closer to the title following the 1-0 win over Livingston where Alfredo Morelos nabbed the only goal of the game.
