In a turn of events only slightly less ridiculous than those Celtic links to Jose Mourinho, the Portuguese gaffer has just shared an image with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.

Specifically, Mourinho shared an image of him grasping the ball whilst Chelsea manager with then Liverpool captain Gerrard trying to wrestle it back.

More pertinently, it comes from the match which Liverpool lost 2-0 to Chelsea in April 2014 in a pivotal moment in the Premier League title race.

This was the match in which Gerrard famously slipped to allow Demba Ba in to score with the incident following the Rangers manager around ever since.

Mourinho, 58, is a free agent following his sacking from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and sharing this image might have some thinking it’s a sign he’s Parkhead bound.

After all the Special One was linked to Celtic via the Scottish Sun before Duncan Castles claimed the outspoken manager was offered the Parkhead role.

However – taking to the Transfer Window Podcast – Castles also confirmed that Mourinho had snubbed the interest from Parkhead.

Not that the situation surrounding Mourinho’s departure from Tottenham is any use to Rangers fans either.

The ex-Real Madrid, Chelsea, Porto and Inter Milan boss needs a replacement in north London and the man adorning the manager’s chair at Ibrox continues to be linked to the role.
