Ex-Celtic striker John Hartson isn’t exactly famed for his razor sharp wit or his humbling insight but the big man is always good for a laugh when it comes to Rangers.

The latest concerns the much-poured over ticket allocation carry-on, amid news this week that Rangers have handed Celtic 700 briefs for the upcoming Old Firm at Ibrox.

Rangers are clear they have no intention of going back to the olden days of 7000+ allocations and Celtic, whether they like it or not, are just going to have to suck it up.

The news also comes amid public disagreements over the situation as Celtic railed against comments from Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson regarding the reinstatement of the allocation.

Changed in 2018, the move has undoubtedly worked in Rangers’ favour but now home advantage appears massive when it comes to Old Firm derby.

Splurting out into the void and providing us all a good laugh, John Hartson appears to have picked up on a popular Celtic line regarding rejecting the tickets.

“I would say stuff the 700 tickets.. it should be 10,000 fans plus or nothing,” tweets John Hartson.

“If your one of the 700 I would think of the other Celtic fans who are missing out. We all know who started this lack of away fans nonsense.”

Some Celtic fans would rather take no briefs than accept the 700 in some kind of defiant stand against the shortening of the allocation and John Hartson is clearly one of them.

It’s just as well absolutely no one at Rangers cares a jot what John Hartson has to say.

John Hartson in ridiculous Rangers demand

More than that, it appears John Hartson wants to actually INCREASE the away allocation to 10k if I’m picking him up correctly.

This is Celtic fans calling for the old allocation that was pre-agreed in a fixture they claim doesn’t exist against a team who don’t exist in a derby that doesn’t matter.

The mental gymnastics are enough to exhaust me never mind Big Bad John and the lack of self-awareness is genuinely staggering.

As far as Rangers fans are concerned, the support is – surprise, surprise – largely split on the issue with some demanding a greater away allocation for Celtic Park.

Rangers fans have plenty of bigger things to worry about off the field at the moment anyway as the club’s Board and a group of shareholders engage in a pretty damaging online spat.
