Celtic SLO John Paul Taylor appeared to take a dig at Rangers on Twitter over the ticket allocation debate raging between the two clubs.

Rangers famously cut Celtic’s previous allocation by 90%, leaving our Old Firm rivals taking about 800 fans to the corner of Ibrox instead of 8000 populating the entire Broomloan Stand.

Celtic would then retaliate by taking the same number off Rangers [ESPN].

Supporters are certainly mixed on the allocation, but the Celtic employee makes it clear that it’s Rangers who have no intention of changing things.

Taylor’s comments only echo that of Rangers chairman Dave King, who has previously stated that the Ibrox club have “no intention” to overturn the decision [BBC Sport].

Rangers say that they made the decision with the ambition of selling more season tickets in the Broomloan [Rangers].

Traditionally, sales in this part of the stadium proved more difficult because they did not guarantee a ticket to the Old Firm derbies. Now they do.

Taking those seats back from the fans occupying them may prove difficult, whilst the club lose out financially

Taking back the stand also hands Rangers a greater advantage inside Ibrox when Celtic come to visit, something which will have been sure to be on the club’s mind when the decision was made.

Sceptics, including those in the Rangers support, will point to a break from tradition, an impact on the atmosphere and how difficult it becomes for away fans to earn a trip to the home of their rivals.
