Celtic boss’ Rangers title soundbite lost amid headline-grabbing Dubai outburst

As Celtic manager Neil Lennon’s Dubai outburst grabbed the headlines, there was one major soundbite from the Parkhead club’s manager which largely went unchecked.

Somewhere between the finger pointing and cries of political conspiracy, the Celtic manager all but conceded the title to Rangers.

Had Lennon’s presser not been quite so explosive, the following quote probably would’ve made the back pages but instead they’re dominated by Lennon’s refusal to back down in the Dubai debacle.

“The league may be beyond us but we’ll not stop trying,” said Lennon [Glasgow Live].

“What we have to do is start winning games on a consistent and regular basis.”

For the Celtic boss to admit that the Holy Grail of 10IAR “may be beyond” the Parkhead club is on any other day headline dominating news.

But because Lennon’s tirade against the media and the powers that be was so outrageous even this suggestion has been glossed over in some circles.

Had Lennon not taken the presser as an opportunity to give his two cents about the entire affair then you can bet Celtic fans would be picking up on these comments.

Rangers currently sit 21 points clear of their Old Firm rivals with Celtic needing Rangers to completely capitulate to stand a chance in the title race.

Lennon may well have a point, but that hasn’t stopped one leading Rangers legend from being astounded that the Celtic manager would be all but conceding the title at this early stage.
