Rangers’ Scottish Premiership rivals Livingston have been rocked by Covid-19 positives to two of their players as the Ibrox club continue to evade problems.
Livingston took to their official website to announce that “two members of our playing squad” are self-isolating after the positive tests, with the players remaining unnamed [Livingston].
It’s the first positive cases in Scottish football since the international break began with fears around numerous Rangers players at home and abroad during this period.
We keep hearing about how it is inevitable that Rangers will be rocked by Covid-19 positives eventually but with the squad adhering to strict protocols, there is no guarantee this will be the case.
Celtic were rocked by Covid-19 positives during the last international break and this kicked off a difficult period wherein they only won two of their last seven games.
If Rangers are to be adversely affected by Covid-19 positives – which can still almost certainly happen – then it will likely take place over the next fortnight.
Rangers have a host of players away on international duty with club stars breaking bubbles to play up to three games in this window of time and mix with players from all over the world.
It’s brought into question the suitability of international football in this period and everyone at Ibrox will have their fingers crossed that their players come back in good health.
For the sake of the players, more than anyone else.
But as big news about the success rate of an early vaccine reaches these shores, could much of this conversation around Rangers be down to hope more than expectation?

Should the club get through the next two weeks – and with Jordan Jones and George Edmundson’s situation serving as an example – then the club’s bio-secure bubble need not be breached until the next international break next Spring.
With that vaccine on the horizon, there’s no guarantee that Rangers will be affected by Covid-19 positives at all and the club deserve credit for how they’ve managed this situation up until now.
