Burton Albion fans are rejoicing after their club captured Rangers winger Jamie Murphy on loan.
The signing was announced by the EFL League One side on Monday afternoon, with Murphy joining until the end of the season.
The move sees him team up once again with Nigel Clough, who had managed him at Sheffield United.
“We can’t quite believe we have got him, but we are absolutely delighted,” Clough told Burtonalbionfc.co.uk.
“When we heard he was down to go out on loan we made an enquiry but to get a player from Rangers of Jamie’s quality is brilliant. The fact that we have worked with him before and that we get on well with his agent has helped.”
It seems Murphy is also excited with the move, as indicated by his Twitter post.
The 30-year-old has endured a nightmare time since sustaining a serious knee injury in August 2018, making just two substitute appearances for Rangers since then.
A switch to Burton will hopefully bring much more regular playing opportunities and a chance for him to get back to somewhere near his best form.
It appears that Brewers fans are the most excited of all by the deal, though.
They have rejoiced on social media, with some thinking the addition of Murphy will be the key to securing promotion to the Championship come to the end of the season.
