BT Sport pundit Stephen Craigan says Rangers are risking humiliation by publicly going against the SPFL amid the global health crisis, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

The Gers will reportedly distribute a dossier of evidence to other clubs today [Daily Record], relating to SPFL wrongdoing surrounding the ballot which ended the Championship, League One and League Two seasons in April.

The feud is taking centre stage, with a scheduled debate between clubs concerning the fate of the Premiership season reportedly pushed back until Friday.

“There is no doubt if there has been interference and coercion then people will have to front up and take responsibility,” said Craigan, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “However, until that evidence is in the public domain then everyone will be left wondering and speculation has been rife.”

“The risk Rangers are running is that they could end up humiliated if what they have isn’t plausible.

“They are putting their reputation on the line. If, on the other hand, it is explosive then the SPFL and their board are at the point of no return and the Gers will be fully justified.”

Verdict

This is a fairly even-handed assessment of the situation from Craigan.

If the Gers do manage to expose misconduct, it’s hard to see how the likes of Neil Doncaster can continue at the SPFL, given that he has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

On the other hand, Rangers have made a real fuss about this matter and if the evidence is dismissed as weak by other clubs, reputations will be damaged at Ibrox.

Stewart Robertson is perhaps in the most precarious position here. As managing director of Rangers and a member of the SPFL board, he’s very much in the firing line.

With the dossier scheduled to have been distributed to clubs this morning, information on its contents shouldn’t be too far away.
