Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos has been named as the Star Man in the SPFL Team of the Week after reaching a big personal milestone in a 2-1 comeback win over St Mirren on Sunday.

Morelos scored the winner in the 43rd minute in Paisley, shortly after Kemar Roofe had brought the Gers level from the penalty spot.

The Colombia international’s close-range header was his 100th goal in all competitions since signing for the club in the summer of 2017.

Due to the significance of the goal in the game and the fact that it brought up his personal century, he was awarded the Star Man title in the TOTW and described as ‘box office’ [SPFL.co.uk]

Morelos is the lone striker in the select XI and one of five Premiership players to make the cut.

The others were Dundee United’s Scott McMann, Celtic’s Carl Starfelt, Aberdeen’s Scott Brown and Joseph Hungbo, who’s on loan at Ross County from Premier League club Watford.

The lower-league players selected were Peterhead’s Brett Long, Cove Rangers’ Shay Logan, Dunfermline Athletic’s Mark Connolly, Montrose’s Cammy F Ballantyne, Alloa’s Kevin Cawley and Aidan Connolly of Raith Rovers.
