A leading Scottish football journalist has claimed that there is “no truth” in reports that Rangers star Borna Barisic could move to Croatian champions Dinamo.
Mark McDougall writes for digital tabloid Football Scotland and claims that reports surrounding the 30-year-old Croatia international are wide of the mark.
In fact, the journalist claims that Borna Barisic fully intends on seeing out his contract at Rangers and could even sign an extension with his current deal up at the end of the season.
Barisic is one of six experienced Ibrox first-teamers out of contract at the end of the season.
According to McDougall, reports of a potential Dinamo move for Borna Barisic are wide of the mark with the journalist also suggesting a new deal at Rangers is a possibility.
Taking to X, the journalist said:
“Believe there’s no truth in the reports in Croatia linking Borna Barisic with a move to Dinamo Zagreb. Will see out the final year of his contract at Rangers and could still potentially sign a new deal too.”

Borna Barisic links to Dinamo Zagreb rubbished
This comes after a report in Croatian outlet Germanijak had claimed Borna Barisic could move to NK Dinamo either in the final few days of the window in the player’s home country.
The window is not set to slam shut until the 8th of September in the Ibrox star’s home country but if a move was to materialise Rangers would struggle to secure a replacement.
The report does however acknowledge that a January move for the Croatian – who moved to Rangers from hometown club NK Osijek in 2018 – is more likely.
All this Dinamo chatter also comes against the backdrop of a recent controversy surrounding Borna Barisic, who missed the weekend’s defeat to Celtic.

Now joining up with the Croatia national team, the left-back has been deemed fit to play despite going off in a hurry in the 5-1 humiliation against PSV Eindhoven.
Having made 208 appearances for Rangers, questions persist over Borna Barisic’s big game mentality and Dinamo Zagreb’s interest is certainly one that’s got Gers fans talking.
