A bombshell Police Scotland statement has appeared to cast doubts over the legitimacy of claims made by the Slavia Prague president regarding scenes in the aftermath of their victory over Rangers.
The Czech club came out on the defensive amid claims defender Ondřej Kúdela racially abused Glen Kamara, something both clubs are defiantly backing their players over.
After Rangers publicly called out the incident – which came during the 2-0 Europa League defeat at Ibrox – Slavia claimed Glen Kamara assaulted Kúdela [Slavia].
They describe Kamara’s comments as “imaginary” despite Bongani Zungu being within earshot and hearing the slur.

The official club statement also makes mention of the Slavia team being back at the hotel under “Scottish police supervision”.
Not only that, but club president Jaroslav Tvrdik also took to Twitter to claim that Kúdela was attacked before suggesting the case was “resolved” by the local police.
However, in a bombshell statement, Police Scotland have refuted the notion there was any criminality in the case, revealing “no reports of criminality” had been made by either Rangers or Slavia.
“No reports of criminality have been made by either club in connection with last night’s match,” said a Police Scotland spokesperson [Scottish Sun].
“Police Scotland has contacted club officials and assured them that should any allegation be received it will be investigated thoroughly.”
This is in contrast to the comments of Slavia president Jaroslav Tvrdik, unless we’re missing something in the translation.
UEFA has also come out to pass judgment on the situation with the competition’s governing body awaiting the outcome of the referee’s match report as it launches an investigation.
“UEFA is aware of an incident which occurred in the tunnel after the end of the match and which involved some players of both teams,” a statement reads [Clyde].
“We are waiting to receive detailed reports of the match officials who were present at the game before commenting further.”
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard leapt to the defence of his players in the aftermath of the match and was steadfast in his claims that he’d back Glen Kamara to the hilt.
Gerrard isn’t the only one either – Rangers fans have come out in large numbers to stand in solidarity with the Finnish international and Kemar Roofe, who was a target on social media.
