Rangers flop Juninho Bacuna could end up earning himself a stunning move with Boca Juniors seemingly interested.
The summer of 2021 will go down in Rangers history – and not for good reasons.
Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title and really need to kick on and back Steven Gerrard with quality additions.
Instead, Rangers brought in three free agents with Nnamdi Ofoborh, Fashion Sakala and John Lundstram arriving.
Rangers brought in another midfielder and despite links with an exciting move for Joey Veerman, the Gers ended up with Juninho Bacuna.
Rangers didn’t actually pay a fee for Bacuna but lots of add-ons gave Huddersfield Town a chance to rake in cash down the line.
The Curacao international barely featured for Rangers, playing just 12 games for the club whilst bagging one goal and three assists.
It came to nobody’s surprise when Rangers let Bacuna leave in January 2022, flogging him to Birmingham City after just a few months in Glasgow.

Juninho Bacuna now wanted by Boca Juniors
Bacuna has been playing well for Birmingham this season, recording six assists and two goals in 37 league outings.
Now 25, Bacuna appears to be showing his best form away from Rangers and he could end up making a big move.
Curacao boss Remko Bicentini has now spoken to Voetbalzone in the Netherlands, heaping praise on Bacuna.
Bicentini admitted that he can’t believe Bacuna isn’t playing for a top club right now as he has everything to become a star.
Bicentini noted that Bacuna impressed in last week’s 7-0 defeat to Argentina, with his performance attracting interest.
Boca Juniors officials allegedly spoke to Bicentini after the game to show an interest in Bacuna, with the Curacao boss hopeful that a transfer can take place.
“To be honest, I don’t understand why he doesn’t play at a top club,” said Bicentini. “Of course Birmingham is a great club, but in my opinion he can make a very big step. Especially because of his attitude, mentality and technical qualities. I sincerely believe that that step will come for him. That is why it is great that he has shown himself on this podium.”
“They too were charmed by how he played, and rightly so. Then you are just talking about the biggest club in Argentina, where Diego Maradona played. It would be great if he gets a call from that, but there are more guys around us who can still make great strides,” he added.
A move to one of the biggest clubs in South America would be stunning for Bacuna and nobody can question the size of Boca; few non-European sides match them.
It didn’t work for Bacuna at Rangers, but maybe Ross Wilson and co were onto something after all with Argentinian giants Boca now apparently keen.
