Whenever a player plays for Rangers, it’s a luxury which will follow him for life.
There are few clubs with supporters as fanatical as the Ibrox side’s and any footballer who has pulled on the famous jersey can expect attention no matter where they go in the world.
It’s a special privilege which is reserved more intensely for those players who leave a lasting impression.
One such footballer – whose time in Glasgow is tinged with injury sadness – has just signed a new deal elsewhere as he looks to rebuild his career.
Only, Rangers fans have taken serious umbrage with his new team’s choice of colours and badge.

Helander signs for ‘green and white’
Filip Helander hasn’t had the best few years in football.
The ex-Rangers defender was a popular figure at the heart of the Ibrox defence but with his final 24 months in Glasgow plagued by injury, it wound up being a stint tinged with pain.
Despite that the defender was snapped donning Rangers gear as the worked his way back up to full fitness this summer.
This comes a year on from his release from Ibrox and after his contract with Danish club OB came to an end.
Having just signed with Omonoia Nicosia, it was all smiles from the Rangers support as Helander kicks off a new chapter in Cyprus.
But after the Cypriot club branded the defender ‘green and white’ Rangers fans have sent Omonoia a stark reminder of the big Swede’s loyalties.
Rangers fans not happy
On Instagram, the Cypriot club shared a post including a picture with Helander claiming the defender is now ‘green and white’.
Naturally, this riled the Rangers support and there have been plenty of responses from supporters.
One fan kicked things off by claiming that ‘Filip will never be green and white’. It’s a comment which has over 270 likes at the time of writing.
Another echoed this sentiment whilst one fan proclaimed ‘Filip is red, white and blue’ with plenty urging the club to ‘delete’ the post.
Another supporter warned that the account was ‘unfollowed for that behaviour’ whilst one told Helander that he is ‘not feeling that badge big man’.
This is in reference to Omonoia’s shamrock like crest, which another fan described as being a ‘bit suss’.
One riled supporter even told Big Fil that the colours don’t ’suit’ him.
After four years in Glasgow, it’s clear Helander has left his mark on Rangers fans and we’re sure they’ve left their mark on him.
And Omonoia Nicosia might try and claim the big centre-back but when the curtain eventually comes down on his career, we all know where the defender’s loyalties will lie.
