Fans of Rangers partners Bengaluru FC came together to cheer on the Scottish Champions as they defeated Old Firm rivals Celtic over the weekend.
The Ibrox club ran out 1-0 winners over their Parkhead rivals, with fans of our Indian Super League partners tuning in on the other side of the planet.
Members of the Bengaluru FC supporters club the West Block Blues were even involved as they came together to cheer on the Rangers.
Rangers have supporters clubs across the globe and after signing a deal with Bengaluru in 2019 the club has began to build stronger roots in India.
The partnership will see both clubs share a range of expertise and ideas whilst increasing the profile of both clubs in India and the UK respectively.
Rangers and Bengaluru also came together earlier in the year to launch a special initiative which would support Indians amid a Covid-19 wave in the country.
The Ibrox club announced that 100% of the proceeds from Rangers and Bengaluru FC co-branded scarves will go to organisations that are supporting the response to Covid-19 [Rangers].
“We’re excited and proud to announce our partnership with reigning Indian Super League champions Bengaluru FC, especially at this time when football in India, a country of 1.3 billion people, is entering a period of unprecedented growth,” said Stewart Robertson back in 2019.
“The Club’s international strategy is a core-pillar to our growth plans and this partnership opens up Rangers to the vast football community in India and provides a great platform for us to engage with our wider fan base, and the South Asian communities at home here in Scotland.”
Rangers fans will be delighted to hear about Bengaluru supporters embracing the Old Firm and let’s hope there’s plenty more victories over Celtic to come.
Meanwhile, Rangers fans have been in stitches all day at a Celtic transfer window story that seeks to spin the last few months in the Parkhead club’s favour.
