Rangers loanee Ben Davies is playing a key role in Birmingham City’s seemingly inevitable march towards the English Championship.
Ben Davies is spending the season at St Andrews and such has been the progress of the ex-Liverpool defender, Rangers will be hopeful they can shift the defender on full-time come the summer.
Once again Davies was a top performer as Birmingham eked out a 1-0 victory over Charlton this weekend.
Ben Davies hailed by Birmingham fans
In what was Birmingham’s 30th win of a productive season, Ben Davies was branded a ‘brick wall’ by the club’s social accounts
There’s also been substantial clamour online from Birmingham fans who want to see a deal for the Ibrox defender made permanent in the summer.
It’s not just on social media platform X that the Birmingham City support are calling for a permanent deal for Ben Davies either.
The Rangers loanee conducted a post-match interview with the Blues’ in-house media team and it’s been swamped with comments lavishing the defender with praise.
One fan said ‘hope we sign this guy’ whilst another agreed, adding ‘get him signed up’ and branding Davies ‘Premier League quality’.
One Birmingham support branded Davies an ‘absolute monster’ of a defender whilst another fan urged the club to ‘sign him immediately’.
One fan summed up supporter sentiment: ‘we have to sign this man, absolute quality defender’.
Ben Davies hails ‘brilliant’ Birmingham fans
Birmingham are certainly not short on cash having been backed by a US consortium which includes investment from NFL legend Tom Brady.
Rangers would also be more than willing to strike a permanent deal to get one of the club’s top earners off their books heading into next season.
The question then could come down to Ben Davies himself and the Ibrox loan star has a message for the Birmingham City support amid a clamour for his signature.
The Rangers defender insists he’s loving it at St Andrews and paid tribute to the Blues fans for their contribution this season.

“It feels good to play here,” Davies told Birmingham. “Fans are brilliant.
”They are nice and loud and they help us through the game.
”So yeah it’s a great place to play football at the minute but obviously we’ve worked well with the fans all of the season to get to this point. It’s a team effort.”
