Rangers have appointed a new manager in Philippe Clement but only after he rejected a staggering offer from Saudi Arabia.
The Gers announced the arrival of new boss Philippe Clement on Sunday morning, exactly two weeks since Michael Beale’s exit.
A host of managers were linked but Rangers have chosen Clement in what looks like a very impressive move.
The 49-year-old won three league titles in a row over in Belgium; one with Genk and then two with Club Brugge.
Clement will now hope to add more trophies to his record with Rangers – and has passed up major cash to make the move to Ibrox.
Philippe Clement rejected Al Shabab offer for Rangers deal
Clement’s track record meant Rangers weren’t the only suitors following his exit from Monaco over the summer.
Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab wanted Clement too, having sacked Dutch boss Marcel Keizer in September.
Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad now claim that Clement was offered eye-watering terms to join Al Shabab.
It’s stated that Al Shabab offered Clement a massive deal worth €15million (£13million) for a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The offer fell flat though as Clement preferred a move to Rangers for sporting reasons, snubbing Al Shabab and making his way to Ibrox.

Clement decision should impress Rangers fans
Any manager would be desperate to make a positive impact early into a new job.
Clement’s decision to reject riches in Saudi Arabia for the project at Rangers should do just that.
It would have been easy for Clement to jump at the chance to take huge money having started the season out of work.
Clement would have been able to coach compatriot Yannick Carrasco too, but he preferred Rangers.
Clement seems convinced by the prospect of guiding Rangers back to the top of the Scottish Premiership, and his commitment to the cause should leave fans encouraged.
