BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds lavished praise on Rangers on Sunday afternoon for their efforts against St Johnstone.
Steven Gerrard’s side ran out 4-0 winners at McDiarmid Park, courtesy of goals from Alfredo Morelos, Connor Goldson and Jermain Defoe (2).

That’s a comfortable scoreline, but it didn’t always look as though it was on the cards. That was what impressed the former Scotland striker so much.
BBC Pundit praises Rangers
“The hardest thing in football is figuring out how to pick up from a poor performance,” said Dodds on as quoted by BBC Sport. “Well, Rangers have done that today in the second half. They had to.”
“A perfect reaction after a poor first half.”
Playing with tempo is something that Rangers have often struggled with on the road under Gerrard. As Dodds’ says, when everything feels lethargic and out of kilter, it can be hard to get things back on track.

Yet, amid the pressure of knowing dropped points would have been disastrous, the players responded after the interval.
The Gers won’t get away with only turning it on in the second half for the rest of the season. The manager needs to find a way of getting his side firing from the start when away from home.
There was great energy shown during the second period today, though, and the ruthlessness demonstrated at the end will delight supporters.
On a day where Celtic defeated Kilmarnock, the Gers are no closer to top spot, but they did answer more questions on the road.
