Rangers have been told to make a January move for Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland by Barry Ferguson.
Rangers pulled off a coup by landing Philippe Clement as the club’s new manager earlier in October.
The Belgian has a strong reputation from his time in Belgium and secured two top-six finishes in France with Monaco.
We have to imagine that Clement has been given certain transfer guarantees as he attempts to build his squad at Ibrox.
January transfers will surely take place and one boyhood Gers fan is being backed for a move to Glasgow…
Rangers urged to sign Lawrence Shankland
Rangers came from 1-0 down to beat Hearts on Sunday afternoon with Lawrence Shankland scoring the opener for the visitors.
Shankland peeled away at the back post and sent a superb header past Jack Butland and into the net.
Rangers did turn the game around but Shankland did enough to leave Barry Ferguson urging an Ibrox move.
Former Rangers star Ferguson has told The Go Radio Football Show Podcast that he thinks Shankland is the man for Clement.
Ferguson admitted that he was impressed with Shankland’s link-up play and felt his performance against Rangers was strong even without the goal.
Ferguson added that he would be asking what it would take to bring Shankland to Rangers, believing that the Gers could tempt Hearts into selling.
“I was so impressed with Lawrence Shankland,” said Ferguson, as quoted by the Daily Record. “Take away the goal, his link-up play, build-up play, I think as he’s got older he’s got better. I would be enquiring and asking what is the script, how long has he got left on his contract. What would it cost?”

Will Rangers really spend on another striker?
TEAMtalk reported in June that Rangers were weighing up a bid to sign Shankland.
That would be something of a dream for the 28-year-old, who confirmed to the Glasgow Evening Times in 2018 that he supported Rangers as a kid.
Hearts would surely demand big money for Shankland, who has now scored 35 times in 62 games since joining the club in 2022.
The question here is whether Rangers would go and spend more money in the final third.
Michael Beale invested heavily in signing Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Sam Lammers over the summer.
Rangers fans are still waiting for that trio to really show consistent quality but the investment means the Gers may be reluctant to spend more money on another striker.
That makes a January deal for Shankland seem a little unlikely with Clement maybe targeting other areas.
