Rangers could now be made to feel even worse about missing out on Xavi Simons as Arsenal are linked with the Dutchman.

A story from Spanish news outlet AS claimed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanted to bring the 20-year-old wonderkid to Ibrox back in the summer.

However, the Amsterdam-born prodigy eventually snubbed the chance to join Rangers in favour of a move to PSV Eindhoven.

That has already turned into a difficult situation for Rangers fans to take as the Netherlands international scores 19 goals and provides 12 assists in a stunning 2022/23 campaign so far.

Now, salt could be rubbed in the wounds after an update on Xavi Simons.

Rangers will regret missing out on Xavi Simons

Well – according to the Mirror – Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Simons.

If Rangers fans were to end up seeing the Dutchman play alongside other stars such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus at the Emirates Stadium, fighting for the Premier League title together, it would breathe new life into those who still think “what if” when it comes to Simons and a move to Glasgow.

As time goes on, it feels more and more like Rangers missed out on a potential star of the future.

Simons earned a place in the Netherlands World Cup squad thanks to his efforts for PSV Eindhoven in the first half of the campaign, and at the age of just 20, he is arguably already a £50m talent.

There aren’t many attackers across Europe who have registered 31 goal involvements alone this season.

Of course, Michael Beale has other things to worry about this summer as he attempts to replace Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, while the central midfield department could also do with some strengthening.

Nevertheless, we would presume that the 42-year-old’s life at Rangers would be a lot easier if he had a potential superstar like Simons in his squad.
