New England Revolution manager Bruce Arena has given a positive update on Matt Polster after the former Rangers player appeared to be knocked out on the pitch, as quoted by mlssoccer.com.
Polster became a popular figure during his 18 months at Ibrox, but he left the club earlier this summer to return to the MLS in pursuit of regular playing time, in a deal worth a reported £300,000 [Scottish Sun].

He’s been deployed in a defensive midfield role for the Revs and earned rave reviews from supporters for his early performances.
His luck has changed in recent weeks, though. The 27-year-old picked up an unfortunate red card in a defeat to Philadelphia Union two weeks ago and he appeared to be knocked out cold in a nasty accidental collision in the first half of a game against D.C United over the weekend.
Polster dived into a challenge in an attempt to prevent Yordy Reyna from launching a counter-attack but despite winning the ball, he was caught flush on the head by the opposition player’s trailing boot.
The ex-Ger seemed to be momentarily knocked unconscious and medical staff rushed on to the pitch to assess him.
Encouragingly, Polster managed to walk off with some assistance a few minutes later and Revs manager Arena provided a positive update after the match.
“I saw Matt a few minutes ago,” he said, as quoted by mlssoccer.com. “He’s recovered in the sense that he’s got all his faculties, I guess.”
“I don’t know what the doctors have concluded – what kind of head injury it might have been – but he’s got all his senses back. He seems OK now. I’m waiting to hear back.
“I’m sure we’re going to have a neurologist check him out when we get back to Boston, but he seems to be doing fine now.”
It was a nasty blow to the head for Polster but this initial update from his manager is encouraging and hopefully, he’ll soon be given the all-clear by the specialist.
The Revs went on to win the match 2-0 courtesy of late goals from Gustavo Bou and Adam Buksa and have moved up to fifth in the MLS Eastern Conference.
