Andrew Cavenagh is currently overseeing a lot of upheaval at Rangers behind the scenes.

There have been a number of staff members who have parted ways with the club for good over the last few weeks.

Since the takeover, the owners have made it clear that they will be doing things their way and backing managers in the ways they deem right.

Birmingham City confirm the arrival of Scott Fry

English Championship club Birmingham City announced on Monday that they had secured the services of Scott Fry.

The 33-year-old was the first-team set-piece coach at Rangers, joining them as part of Danny Rohl’s coaching staff.

His appointment was a first for the Ibrox outfit, as they had never had a designated set-piece coach on their books

Under his stewardship, they scored more goals from dead-ball situations than any other club in the Scottish Premiership.

He will be taking up a similar role at Birmingham now, as they hope to return to the Premier League after spending years out of the first division.

Fry will be hoping to continue his stellar track record, as he was a success at Lincoln City as well before he joined the Light Blues.

The set-piece coach will now be working with former Celtic coach Chris Davies at St Andrew’s.

Will Rangers hire another set-piece coach to join Derek McInnes’ staff?

Given Fry’s success at Ibrox, there surely will be the temptation to bring in another set-piece coach to replace him.

The game continues to evolve, and sometimes it goes through cycles, with set pieces once again considered as an important way to score goals and win games.

It is equally important to defend well from dead-ball situations, so hiring a replacement for Fry should be imperative.

How will you remember Jack Butland for his time as the Rangers number one?

McInnes has shown a penchant for working with a set-piece coach, as he had Ross Grant when he was at Hearts.

Many would not have minded Grant following the 54-year-old through the door at Ibrox, but he moved to Celtic at the end of June.

Hearts scored 15 goals from set pieces last season, showing just how important having a designated set-piece coach can be.
