Steven Gerrard is “convinced” the Ibrox club can mount a serious challenge to Celtic and win the Scottish Premiership, according to former Rangers striker Andy Gray.
Now a pundit, Gray was speaking in an exclusive interview with the Daily Record.
Talking to the paper, he revealed that he spoke to Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister after Sunday’s 4-0 drubbing of Marseille.

“Rangers are 100 per cent ready to make a proper title challenge this season,” said Andy Gray.
“Steven knows it too having talked to him about it after the game. He’s absolutely convinced there’s a title in them and that it can be this year.
“There is definitely a title push to come.
“When you think, had Rangers beaten the teams they should have beaten last season – and didn’t drop so many stupid points – then they probably would have won the title this year.”
The comments come at a time when the feeling around Ibrox is arguably as good as it has been over the course of the last decade.
Steven Gerrard is building a side capable of challenging Celtic over the course of a season.
There’s a strength-in-depth at Ibrox we haven’t seen in a long time and real hope we can go the distance in this campaign.

Andy Gray isn’t the only ex-Rangers striker backing the Light Blues this season either.
