Steven Gerrard has been a name on some Rangers fans’ lips.
The man who stopped the 10 and delivered title number 55 isn’t having the best time of it out in Saudi Arabia with current club Al-Ettifaq.
And with some supporters beginning to turn on Philippe Clement after defeats to Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, it has been suggested the timing could be right for Gerrard to return.
The current Gers boss is still in place of course after beating Motherwell to reach the Premier Sports Cup final, but any further slip and the pressure will increase.

McCoist reckons Gerrard would be welcomed back to Rangers
Of the names suggested as a potential replacement, Gerrard is one of the most high-profile.
He is also one of the most notable because of his links to the club and relative success last time out.
Some Rangers fans feel he could bring back the winning mentality he instilled last time but others point out that league title was his only trophy at Ibrox.
It is all hypothetical while Clement remains in a job but the topic was raised on talkSPORT this morning.
And McCoist said: “He would be welcomed back. He won the title in his time at Rangers and he would be welcomed back.
“But I have to tell you Jeff [Stelling] the problems at Rangers go far greater than the manager at this moment in time and a lot deeper. I think they need to get things sorted at the top level before anything else.
“It works its way down if things aren’t right at the top. No full-time chairman, director of football or chief executive. There is none of that happening at this moment in time and that has to happen. I don’t care what anyone says, it must have an effect on the pitch if things are not good off it.
“So in answer your question, would he be welcomed back? I think he would, yeah. But he clearly has his work cut out over there [Saudi] at this moment in time.”
Gerrard under pressure at Al-Ettifaq
Partly giving fuel to the Gerrard talk is the fact he may not be in a job for much longer.
The 44-year-old is on a six-game winless run with Al-Ettifaq and various reports in Saudi Arabia suggest he is under pressure and potentially on the verge of the sack.
We showed you video as the ex-Rangers boss was booed by his own fans after their latest defeat to Al Qadsiah, after losing a cup game to lower league opposition just days before.
He said after the match: “I spoke to the players. If we had performed like this before, we would not have put ourselves in this embarrassing situation, but I bear the responsibility.
“We conceded the first goal from a set piece. Previously, we used to defend better from set pieces. The second goal was scored by a young player, and he made the same mistake he made against Al-Fayha. The player is young, and I bear responsibility for the second goal.
“I bear full responsibility for using a young player in defence, as he has little experience. His recruitment was to prepare him for development and the future, and using him was not appropriate, but due to injuries, we were put in this position.”
