Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos has claimed he’s “proud” of what he achieved at Rangers – and has pledged to haul Santos up the Brazilian table.
El Bufalo might’ve had his sights set on a move to the continent after a six-year stint in Glasgow but after a deal to Fenerbahce collapsed, wound up signing on in Brazil.
That move was somewhat surprising but Alfredo Morelos has been speaking to Globo Esporte about his exit from Rangers and subsequent move to Santos.
Speaking about the Ibrox side first, the striker explains that injury interrupted the final part of his Rangers career as he looks forward to “a new stage”.
In particular, the Rangers striker has reflected on his record-breaking haul of 29 European goals for the club, a feat he describes as being very “proud” of.
“Obviously I didn’t play much because I had a very complicated injury, but I scored 12 goals,” Morelos said.

“Obviously I didn’t play almost every game as a starter. We’re going to work to get Santos out of this situation.
“I’ve done well in European tournaments. I’m very proud of that. It was something beautiful for me. Now I’m living a new stage.”

Alfredo Morelos looking to haul Santos out of relegation zone
Speaking specifically about the move to Santos – who are currently 17th and in the relegation zone of the Brazilian Campeonato – Alfredo Morelos claims he’s aiming to haul them up the table.
“The decision to come to Santos was important for my career,” Morelos said. “I’d been in Europe for six seasons.

“The Brazilian league is very important. It will obviously help me grow as a footballer. I’ve signed a two-year contract and I hope to do really well here.
“We know that Santos are in a bad situation, but we’re going after the goal of getting the team out of the bottom half of the table.”
Signing on at Rangers in 2017, Alfredo Morelos went on to make 269 appearances for the club, scoring 124 goals and laying on 58 assists.
