The game was always going to be a challenge, but Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan’s being sent off made it an even bigger one.

Rangers never seem to make it easy for themselves. But like the Rangers of old, they dug deep, fought for the badge and each other, and got the result. It was huge.

“Morelos must take responsibility”

Steven Gerrard spoke honestly about Morelos’ sending off after the game. He said:

“What I do need from Alfredo – and what the players need – is for him to take a bit more responsibility.

“The players love him. He’s a joker in the pack and they know what he gives them. But he just needs to keep channelling it in the right way because otherwise these referees won’t keep you on the pitch.”

It’s true – Morelos might have been subject to some soft yellows in his time, but he needs to stop huffing. Referees won’t stand for it and it just gives them ammunition. He needs to focus on his game.

Morelos must reward new deal with performances

Morelos is also set to sign a new deal with Gerrard saying he hopes it’ll be in the next few days.

But what Alfredo Morelos needs to do is prove to everyone outside of Ibrox just how much of a player he is. Let’s hope he starts repaying the deal on Sunday.

Opposition players and the media revel in his argumentative nature. It was frustrating before, it was heartstopping last night.

This has to be the last time he lets the team down like this.
