The agent of reported Rangers target Bongani Zungu has revealed that negotiations are underway for the midfielder to leave current club Amiens.

The South African international, 27, was first linked to Ibrox by France Football who claimed the Gers were looking at a €2-3m deal for the player.

However English journalist Joe Crann – whom Zungu follows on Twitter – claims the Ligue 1 side are holding out for closer €5m.

As the transfer window opens in Scotland, Zungu’s agent Alexis Ramalingam claims the midfielder is already in discussions to leave northern France.

“The official position is that he only has one year left on his contract with Amiens,” said Ramalingam [Kick Off].

“So for now, they are going down to the second division, there is a big chance that Bongani will be leaving but we can’t comment about any interested clubs until the move is done because every club asks for discretion.

“There’s a big possibility that he leaves France this summer but we can’t comment about any clubs for now in order to respect the clubs we are in talks with.

“There’s interest in Ligue 1 and in other parts of Europe but I just can’t reveal where for now.”

Whilst Amiens relegation has been overturned by the French courts – and the French authorities scramble for a solution – Zungu appears to be readying a move elsewhere.

A range of box-to-box type midfielders have been heavily linked to Ibrox with the South African one name topping the list.

Could Rangers be one of the sides the South African’s representatives are in discussion with?
