Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the trip to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership.

Barry Ferguson has picked a much changed Rangers team who are looking to get back to winning ways after defeat to Hibs in the Scottish Premiership last time out.

10-man Rangers did manage a spirited draw against Athletic Club in the Europa League quarter-finals but face a tough test against Jimmy Thelin’s rejuvenated Reds.

Rangers also know that Celtic will be crowned Scottish Premiership champions if they fail to pick up at least a point in Scotland’s northeast.

Liam Kelly retains his place in the Rangers starting XI after his penalty kicks heroics against Athletic Club.

Dujon Sterling faces a lengthy injury absence with an Achilles problem sustained in the match, with Barry Ferguson ringing the changes in defence.

Robin Propper was sent off against the Spaniards and starts at Pittodrie alongside Clinton Nsiala and Rafael Fernandes.

Connor Barron captains the side on his return to Pittodrie and will play alongside Nedim Bajrami, Oscar Cortes, Ross McCausland and Findlay Curtis in midfield.

Up front, Rangers start with Hamza Igamane and Brazilian hitman Danilo as Ferguson makes no fewer than nine changes from the team that faced Athletic.

Rangers fans hail ‘wild team’ that’s an ‘absolute mess’

Rangers fans have taken note of the raft of changes made by Barry Ferguson heading into the clash with Aberdeen.

Rangers face a season-defining trip to Spain during the week to face Athletic Bilbao with the Europa League quarter final second leg neatly poised at 0-0.

One supporter claims the Rangers line up is ‘actually perfect’ with one eye on Athletic Club on Thursday evening.

Another added that this was ‘the team everyone was expecting’ with one eye on what happens next week.

One had pleaded for ‘no more injuries’ after saying he was ‘happy’ with Ferguson’s decision to drop several key players in the match.

With several fringe players set to get the opportunity to show what they can do, one fan has pretty much summed up fan sentiment.
