Aberdeen star branded “some pler” by Rangers fans despite Ibrox defeat

As Rangers battered Aberdeen 4-0 at Ibrox, most of the Rangers fans’ eyes were transfixed on Steven Gerrard’s side as yet another swashbuckling display heralded three points.

The Gers are now 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership; something made all the sweeter by the fact we dispatched our northeast rivals Aberdeen to get there.

But whilst the likes of Kemar Roofe stole the show in a dominant Rangers display, one Aberdeen player in particular caught the eye of the Gers faithful.

Welsh international winger Ryan Hedges was Aberdeen’s only bright spark in an otherwise drab performance from the desperate Dons.

The former Barnsley star has made a big impression at Pittodrie over the last few seasons and played an influential role in the club’s 3-3 draw with Celtic last month.

The winger scored one of the Dons’ goals and was a constant thorn in the side of Neil Lennon’s team in what was a spirited display.

Similarly at Ibrox, Hedges was the only Aberdeen player providing an attacking outlet and showed flashes of the ability that has earned him three caps in a competitive Welsh national team.

Hedges’ performance at Ibrox didn’t go unnoticed by Rangers fans as they watched their team romp to a comfortable victory over Derek McInnes’ side:

Despite a spirited Hedges performance he couldn’t stop Rangers running away with the match at Ibrox courtesy of goals from Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Scott Arfield and James Tavernier

But whilst some fans might muse about the potential of Hedges interesting Rangers – could one young winger take the place of a frozen-out Ibrox star amid reports of contract talks?
