As Rangers battered Aberdeen 4-0 at Ibrox, most of the Rangers fans’ eyes were transfixed on Steven Gerrard’s side as yet another swashbuckling display heralded three points.
The Gers are now 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership; something made all the sweeter by the fact we dispatched our northeast rivals Aberdeen to get there.
But whilst the likes of Kemar Roofe stole the show in a dominant Rangers display, one Aberdeen player in particular caught the eye of the Gers faithful.
Welsh international winger Ryan Hedges was Aberdeen’s only bright spark in an otherwise drab performance from the desperate Dons.
The former Barnsley star has made a big impression at Pittodrie over the last few seasons and played an influential role in the club’s 3-3 draw with Celtic last month.
The winger scored one of the Dons’ goals and was a constant thorn in the side of Neil Lennon’s team in what was a spirited display.

Similarly at Ibrox, Hedges was the only Aberdeen player providing an attacking outlet and showed flashes of the ability that has earned him three caps in a competitive Welsh national team.
Hedges’ performance at Ibrox didn’t go unnoticed by Rangers fans as they watched their team romp to a comfortable victory over Derek McInnes’ side:
Ryan Hedges is decent btw

That Ryan Hedges looks the type of decent Scottish league player we’d have signed under Walter the first time round to beef up the squad. Pacey and direct. Be a decent squad player if they’d take a couple our players in swap. Stewart and Jones 🤷♂️

Tell you what I would take Ryan Hedges at Rangers. Hes basically a far superior Jordan Jones.

Nothing unusual in me agreeing with super. First time I've seen the Hedges kid of Aberdeen & he does look a good player.

Really like that Hedges player for Aberdeen, been keeping an eye on him since we played them at the start of the season. Definitely got potential.

Hedges is either a decent player or having the standard Aberdeen player playing out his skin against us. Not really noticed him before.

If Aberdeen didn't have Hedges offering something up top we could have put 8 past them today with committing more men forward. Superb Rangers, we are on a different level.

Despite a spirited Hedges performance he couldn’t stop Rangers running away with the match at Ibrox courtesy of goals from Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Scott Arfield and James Tavernier
But whilst some fans might muse about the potential of Hedges interesting Rangers – could one young winger take the place of a frozen-out Ibrox star amid reports of contract talks?
