Aberdeen have completed a transfer, with their Scottish Cup quarter-final against Rangers less than a week away.
Greg Halford has signed as emergency cover, on a deal until the end of the season.
Both Shay Logan and Tommie Hoban have picked up injuries recently. Therefore, Halford, who is comfortable at either right-back or centre-half, has been brought in to plug a gap.
Should Rangers be worried?
Halford certainly has some pedigree as a defender.
He has Premier League experience with both Sunderland and Wolves, accumulating 28 appearances in England’s top flight. The majority of his career, though, has been spent in the Championship.
The Evening Express also report that he has commanded £8.5 million in transfer fees over his career.
He’s 6ft 4′, so will bring a considerable physical presence to the Aberdeen defence.

Yet, he has been without a club since leaving Cardiff, in July (Transfermarkt). Therefore, he will be will short of match fitness.
At 34, too, he’s no spring chicken and perhaps not quite the player he once was.
Nonetheless, it seems a good piece of business to bring in anyone of decent pedigree in in February.
Halford goes straight into the squad to face Hamilton on Wednesday evening, subject to international clearance.
Either way, he is likely to lineup against the Gers in Sunday’s crunch Scottish Cup quarter-final, which will be watched by only a fraction of the usual Bears travelling support.
