Neil Warnock has previously shared his love for Rangers and could now end up managing against the Gers with Aberdeen considering a move.

All of the focus has been on transfer business with the January transfer deadline fast approaching.

Rangers have secured some late business by adding Oscar Cortes to Philippe Clement’s squad but the situation is very different at Aberdeen.

The Dons have just sacked manager Barry Robson after a run of just four wins in 14 league games.

Aberdeen’s search for a new boss is already underway and one name on the radar will be of real interest to Rangers fans…

Aberdeen eyeing self-confessed Rangers fan Neil Warnock

The Scottish Sun report that Aberdeen are seriously considering making a move for managerial veteran Neil Warnock.

It’s suggested that the Aberdeen board are looking at managers who can take over until the summer, allowing time to find a long-term appointment.

Warnock is thought to be in the frame for that kind of job, rather than being an option to take Aberdeen forward over the coming years.

75-year-old Warnock has been out of management since leaving Huddersfield Town back in September.

Whether he fancies a move to Pittodrie remains to be seen but Warnock has previously talked up his love of Scottish football and, in particular, Rangers.

Warnock suggested in November that he has always wanted to manage Celtic or Rangers before professing his love for the Gers.

“I love Rangers, I’m a Rangers fan down here as well. Only because Ally McCoist is Rangers, and me and him against Alan Brazil, who’s mad Celtic,” said Warnock.

That was around the time that Rangers were looking for a new boss but Warnock wasn’t selected with Clement landing the job.

Warnock may now be given a chance to manage against Rangers though with Aberdeen now considering giving him a move to Scotland in the later years of his career.

If Warnock lands the job in the coming days, there could even be a chance of Warnock being in charge of the Dons for their trip to Ibrox next Tuesday.

That would be quite the moment for Warnock but the Aberdeen board have plenty to think about as they plot a new appointment.
