Niko Katic shared an emotional message on his Instagram account last night as former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard leaves the club and joins Aston Villa.
The Croatian, who became one of Gerrard’s first signings in the summer of 2018, posted a video of him and Gerrard celebrating the 2-1 win against Celtic in December 2019.

Katic scored the winning goal that day to give Rangers their first win at Parkhead for nine long years.
“True gentleman and top manager,” Niko Katic wrote on Instagram, showing that despite the Croatian being out of the first-team picture this season, he still has respect and admiration for his old manager.
“Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience and improving me as a player and person. Wish you and your team nothing but the best in new chapter” Katic finishes off. A touching Instagram tribute to Gerrard.
Katic featured regularly for Rangers in his first two seasons at the club under Gerrard. Just ahead of our unbeaten league season however he suffered a serious knee injury which ruled him out of the whole campaign.

He was sent to Hadjuk Split on loan to play first-team football and with a recall option on his loan, he could well be recalled in January.
The Croatian still has a future at the Ibrox club. With Connor Goldson’s contract expiring at the end of the season and no talks of it being extended, the club might not need to look far for a ready-made replacement.
In other news, Burnley boss Sean Dyche is a “contender” for the Rangers job.
