Chelsea are potentially interested in signing Leverkusen winger and conqueror of Rangers Leon Bailey to the tune of an incredible £85m.
The Jamaican winger, 22, came off the bench against Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night to put the third goal past Allan McGregor and secure a 3-1 win.
According to the Daily Express, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are said to have watched Bailey’s impressive cameo performance against Rangers at Ibrox.
The report claims Chelsea will face Premier League competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal for the player’s signature.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also said to be interested, but according to the Express Bayer Leverkusen are reluctant to sell to their German rivals.
The astonishing £85m transfer fee attached to Bailey’s name highlights the standard of player Rangers faced in the Europa League in the week.
The pacey Jamaican left winger joined Leverkusen in 2017 from Belgian side Genk for a reported €20m, with the BayArena club beating off Premier League interest to sign Bailey then.
But with fees touching the better part of £100m being talked about the Germans may have no choice but to let the talented wide man move on in the summer.
Bailey isn’t the only major talent in that Leverkusen side either, with German sensation Kai Havertz being valued at up to £100m [Daily Mail] and a plethora of attacking talent in their squad.
