French international forward Christopher Nkunku scored to help down Celtic as RB Leipzig perform a quite remarkable turnaround from Rangers no-marks to Champions League giants.
The Parkhead side’s supporters were deluding themselves earlier in the year when Rangers knocked the Bundesliga outfit out of the Europa League to reach last season’s final.
Christopher Nkunku got on the scoresheet at Ibrox but it wasn’t enough for the Germans with Rangers overturning a 1-0 defeat in the first leg to win the tie 3-2.
Back then, RB Leipzig – who eventually finished 4th in the Bundesliga – were a team of has-beens that Celtic would’ve surely swatted away had they qualified for the semi-final. The same Celtic who haven’t won a European knockout round tie since 2004.
That’s despite the fact the likes of Christopher Nkunku were being touted for big money moves, with Man United reportedly quoted £62.5m for his signature.

In a quite remarkable turn of events, RB Leipzig have gone from overrated German sausage to shining beacons of Bundesliga ball in the space of six months.
Forget the fact they’ve had to get a new manager and are 11th in the Bundesliga. This incarnation of the controversial Red Bull backed outfit is lightyears ahead of the one Rangers faced.
This after they dumped Celtic 3-1 in Germany with Christopher Nkunku scoring the opener, Jota equalising and Andre Silva netting a double to cement Leipzig’s fresh status as a real quality outfit.
