Joey Veerman, once a Rangers transfer target, has continued his excellent form for PSV following his move to the Eredivisie side in the January transfer window.

It was always going to be tough to secure the signature of the midfielder and he eventually joined the club he supported as a youngster, PSV from Heerenveen for a fee reported to be £5m.

The signing was shrewd business as the player has gone on to become an immediate success at the club.

Joey Veerman continues to shine for PSV after Rangers missed out

PSV defeated Heracles in the Eredivisie on Sunday to keep pace with league leaders Ajax and Veerman scored the opening goal in the 3-1 win.

This takes his stats to four goals scored and five assists in only 11 matches for the side, which is excellent form.

The Rangers faithful were obviously disappointed that the club missed out on signing the talented 23-year-old, with many probably hoping he flopped at PSV. It hasn’t quite worked out that way and if he continues this excellent form, his value will soar.

Rangers’ current midfield dilemmas have been well documented, and the Dutchman could have added some freshness into the area. Add in his goal and assist stats that he has documented in the Eredivisie, and we could have had a real diamond on our hands.

Hopefully, the club won’t make another mistake like that again in the future, as players with that talent don’t pop up too often.

Meanwhile, former Rangers striker Billy Dodds continues his managerial woes as Inverness are currently 11 matches without a win.
