49ers Enterprises tipped to oversee ‘biggest personnel overhaul in Rangers history’

Barry Ferguson was left ‘fuming’ as a lacklustre Rangers put a major dent his hopes of becoming Ibrox manager full-time.

Rangers were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Hibs in what was a record-setting fifth straight Ibrox defeat in a row.

Ferguson ripped into the Rangers team at full-time with this a serious blow when it comes to the Rangers legend’s chances of being appointed the club’s 20th permanent manager.

With US investment on the horizon at Rangers, there’s an ever-increasing feeling that 49ers Enterprises and Andrew Cavenagh might change tactics in the summer.

But Barry Ferguson isn’t the first man in the Rangers dugout to be let down by those in the dressing room.

As Roger Hannah explains, those behind the Rangers takeover will be watching on intently and will soon get to the bottom of who is to blame.

49ers Enterprises tipped for unprecedented Rangers overhaul

Cash-rich 49ers Enterprises are one of the most well-backed sports business consortiums on the planet and will not be coming into Rangers to continue down the same path as the current regime.

Dave King describes the buyout as his ‘legacy’ and there can be no argument that this is a potentially game-changing moment for Rangers, a club with huge potential which has not delivered in recent years.

Who is appointed the next manager of Rangers faces an almighty task to turn things around but for Roger Hannah, the problems start within the walls of Ibrox.

“I think the new owners of Rangers when they come into the football will have done their due diligence,” Hannah told Clyde Superscoreboard.

“(They) will realise that these players have let down Barry Ferguson and several managers before him and they will be shown the door.

”Whoever the new manager at Rangers is when 49ers Enterprises take charge I think he will oversee probably the biggest personnel overhaul in Rangers history.

”Because the players at the football club – and you don’t need to take my word for it, just listen to Barry Ferguson – are not good enough for the football club.”

Barry Ferguson not the first to be ‘let down’ by Rangers players

As Barry Ferguson let loose on the Rangers team, there was more than a hint of frustration in the Ibrox manager’s tone.

Hannah reckons much of this is concerned with the aching realisation that the Rangers squad might just have blown his chances to land the top job at Ibrox.

It’s not anything new of course; ever since Steven Gerrard’s exit various incarnations of the Rangers team have colluded to eventually oust Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale and then Philippe Clement.

”He’s fuming because Barry Ferguson will have seen this as a chance to become the Rangers manager on a permanent basis,” Hannah explains.

”The players have let him down the same way that they let down Philippe Clement. Some of them let down Michael Beale and there’s even some of them there that let down Giovanni van Bronckhorst.”
