Barry Ferguson reckons Rangers have been too nice on the park. There’s an argument to suggest the Ibrox side have also been far too nice off it.
Rangers fans have gotten used to bungling boardrooms navigating their way from one disaster to the next and are desperate for some stability to return to Ibrox.
The 49ers Enterprises Rangers takeover is in its final stages and there will be some news on this in the weeks ahead.
As Rangers look to regain their legacy as Scottish football’s premier club, the Americans will have to be ruthless in cutting the wheat from the chaff at Auchenhowie.
But before incoming Director of Football Kevin Thelwell goes chopping up the Rangers squad, the US consortium could be about to prove its ruthless streak south of the border.

49ers Enterprises won’t rest on Leeds United promotion
49ers Enterprises are celebrating after Leeds United earned promotion to the English Premier League.
The Elland Road side are the 49ers’ other British club and after two seasons guiding them through the tumult of the Championship, they’ve reached the land of milk and honey.
It’s no mean feat given that the 49ers’ faced a summer of downsizing at Leeds, their effectiveness in this regard a good omen when it comes to the bonkers financials of Rangers.
Leeds also stuck by German manager Daniel Farke for a second season, despite the ex-Norwich City boss’ failure to escape the Championship first time around.
You might be forgiven for thinking that Leeds United will now back their man in the Premier League, but reports have suggested otherwise.
That’s despite Paraag Marathe saying he’s ‘incredibly proud’ of Farke for his efforts this season, with the German banking the club over £130m with promotion to the Premier League.
49ers show Rangers ruthless streak with Daniel Farke
Whilst Farke is something of an expert in the English second flight, the 48-year-old has struggled in the Premier League.
Farke’s record of two promotions and two relegations is believed to be a source of worry at Elland Road, as is the German’s record-breaking run of 15 straight Premier League defeats with Norwich in 21/22.
According to the Daily Mail, this is something 49ers Enterprises are well aware of with the Americans considering cutting the chord despite the fact Farke has just earned Premier League promotion.
The report claims that, whilst no official decision has been made, the 49ers are assessing the managerial market for a potential change this summer.
The Americans are aware that the decision could backfire but there are internal discussions surrounding Farke’s suitability long-term as they look to turn Leeds back into a Premier League powerhouse.
Call it ruthless, call it unfair, but it shows Rangers fans that 49ers Enterprises will be prioritising success over pleasantries.
After years of humming and hawing, such ruthless efficiency is in short supply in Govan and must once again become a feature of Rangers Football Club.
