Rangers target Jack Butland had to watch on from the bench as David De Gea dropped another clanger for Manchester United on Sunday.
The Gers beat Aberdeen 1-0 on Sunday afternoon as Robby McCrorie was given a chance to shine in goal.
McCrorie did himself no harm with a clean sheet and a strong display as Rangers weigh up their goalkeeping options.
Allan McGregor’s time is likely coming to an end whilst Jon McLaughlin has been linked with a summer exit.
McCrorie will want to prove that he can take over but Rangers appear to have somebody in mind already.
The Scottish Sun reported in April that Rangers are ‘on the brink’ of signing Crystal Palace stopper Jack Butland.
The former England stopper is out of contract this summer and it sounds like Palace won’t extend his deal.
Butland is currently on loan at Manchester United and, if a move to Rangers is in the pipeline, he surely can’t wait for it to happen.

Jack Butland watches another David De Gea clanger
The Red Devils travelled to take on West Ham United on Sunday afternoon and fell to another disappointing defeat.
The only goal came from an absolute clanger from David De Gea as he somehow palmed a tame Said Benrahma strike into his own net.
United fans were left fuming once again with De Gea just making too many mistakes right now.
Whether it’s with the ball at his feet or with his shot-stopping, De Gea is struggling at the moment.
Supporters were even calling for Butland to be given a chance as he sat on the bench kicking his heels.
Butland has yet to make a single appearance for United since joining on loan in January.
The 30-year-old would be forgiven for wondering just what he needs to do in order to be given a chance, even if De Gea has years of United service behind him.
Butland needs to be starting games and seeing a goalkeeper commit mistakes in front of him will only fuel that fire.
Instead of being sat on the bench week in and week out no matter what happens, Butland will have the chance to become a regular starter for Rangers and take that spot for years to come.
Rangers will hope to get this deal done soon and, if Butland does sign, they should be landing a goalkeeper with a real point to prove.
