Rangers star Kemar Roofe has been spotted back in Ibrox training as he eyes a return to the side against Hibs at Easter Road.
The reported £3.5m summer signing [Scottish Sun] hasn’t been seen since going off at half-time in the 1-0 Old Firm victory over Celtic at Ibrox on January 2nd.
Rangers boss Gerrard said the match with Ross County – in which Roofe was named on the bench – came too soon for the forward.
But following Gerrard’s pre-match comments and the snaps of Roofe in Rangers training, there will be real hope the diminutive 28-year-old forward will return to the side this evening.
“Roofe never came on the pitch as he had only had one full days training but he has had more volume and will be in the squad tomorrow,” said Gerrard.
Roofe has been an impressive addition for Rangers this season and has added a creativity and potency up front which wasn’t in the squad previously.
A player who is equally adept dropping deep and linking up as he is playing on the last man, Roofe is an intelligent footballer with expert movement and a lethal finish.
The striker has also come up big for Rangers in Europe this season and it’s fair to say the Ibrox support have taken to the ex-Leeds United and Anderlecht man.
